Camping With Kidz

This is for all those out there that like to setup camp, kick back and watch a bit of TV when out and about in the great outdoors.

So you’ve pulled up at camp for the night, everyone and everything is setup for the night. The kids have gone off exploring before dinner, and you have decided to relax in front of the box. But you’re not in a caravan park with others so you have no direction of antennas to follow, or you’re in a park and everyone seems to have their aerial pointing in different directions. The hours I have spent over the years trying to get a TV station can be quite frustrating. If only you knew there was no reception before you started.

Well here’s all you need;
A TV with a digital receiver – Check
A suitable aerial with amplifier and capable of both horizontal and vertical plans – Check
A smartphone, yes, I know they can be a pain when on holiday but sometimes their useful.

Now all you need to do is go to either Google Play or the iTunes App Store on your applicable mobile device and download the ‘mySwitch’ app for free to start tuning in with ease. www.myswitch.digitalready.gov.au

The app will locate where you are, tell you how good the reception should be at your location, and then point you in the right direction.

There are other apps available but you can pay up to $8 for them, and for what, I’m not sure if there would be any point.
